Erase Veteran Debt – End Veteran Suicide will be the first-ever national summit to explore innovative ways in which to solve this seemingly intractable problem inflicting our nation’s heroes. The summit will take place in NYC (location to be announced) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A new team of collaborators are changing that. End Veteran Debt (EVD), its partner in the debt abolition process, ForgiveCo, along with a significentg number of civilian and veteran organizations, have joined forces to erase debt and confront suicide through a “Civ-Vet” model that connects civilians and veterans in shared action.

EVD founder Jerry Ashton (a Navy veteran) validated this approach at a micro-summit on Sept. 9, 2025, at Fordham University in partnership with Michael Matthews (LCSW), director of the Staten Island Military, Veteran and Family Task Force – partners with EVD in a “Operation Debt-Day” campaign. Participants left the event inspired with new tools to fight both debt and suicide, rating the event 4.5/5 out of 5.
